Week 45 – My Very Own Bible

Sponsored children in Ilungu, Tanzania, are excited to receive Bibles they can study at their Compassion center and take home to share with their families. They received the Bibles after their church partnered with Compassion to offer the Child Sponsorship Program. “A lot has changed since the program began here in 2008,” says their center director. “At first there were very few Christians in this area. Now the numbers have significantly increased.”

Joshua lives in a one-room home with a leaky roof in Indonesia. There isn’t much space to run and play outside the home, so he loves going to his Compassion center. There he can play soccer with his friends, eat a warm meal and learn about the Bible. “At the project I learn many things that I don’t learn at school,” he says.

Adjo Gado cooks for 280 sponsored children at a church in Togo that partners with Compassion. She’s one of many caring Christians at Assemblees de Dieu church who tackle unique challenges like spreading the gospel to families who practice Voodoo. From the cook to the pastor, all volunteers and staff at the church give time and love to the sponsored children in their care.
